Taipei - 6 Days Free and Easy

Taipei, capital city of Taiwan is a place famous of local snack and food. My 6 days 5 nights itenary to this faboulous city.

Day1 [29-09-2009]

11:00 - 16:00

Flight from LCC Terminal Kuala Lumpur to TaoYuan International Airport (桃园机场).

Airport transfer to East Dragon Hotel (东龙大饭店) located at XiMending (西门町). Room with 1 queen and 1 single bed. Clean and comfortable. Fanstatic location which just cross the street to XiMending (西门徒步区) and 5mins walk to XiMen MRT station.

18:00
Taipei sunset very early. It is dark even just 6pm+ . Take the MRT to LungShan Temple station.

Visit to LungShan Temple 龙山寺. One of the famous temple in Taipei. Crowded with prayer though at night time. There is lots of Taoist Angel which you can pray for education (文昌帝), pregnancy (註生娘娘), marriage (月老), wealthy (财神爷) etc.
Proceed to HwahSi Night Market (华西夜市). You can see a lot of shops serving snakes as food. If you need any sex toys, you may spot and pick them here. Is up to your decision as the packaging looks like genaration. If you wish to, you could discover something in those alleys.


Day2 [30-09-2009]
Joining the 1 day local tour (inclusive with hotel accomodation package)

7:30 Breakfast @ hotel - Standard 2 egss, 2 breads, 1 ham and coffee.
8:00 - 8:30 Depart to ChiangKaiSek Memorial Gate.
8:30 - 9:30 Martyr's Shrine to view the changing guard ceremony (忠烈祠卫兵交换议式).



9:30 - 11:45 National Palace Museum and Handicraft centre
11:45 - 13:00 Lunch 内蒙古火锅
13:00 -14:00 Journey to JiuFen

It doesn't have enough time to walk around JiuFen due to tour time constraint. Manage to walk to the observation view point and the staircase shown on those drama. Suggestion to those wish to enjoy air freshness and mind relaxing, staying 1 night in JiuFen is a good choice. You can view the beautiful night scenary and lighting the big lattern (天灯).

17:00 - 17:30 Visit to Mao Princess' s House 毛家公主


17:30 - 19:30
The last destination of the tour is to XinBeiTou for hotspring. It's a public pool which everyone need to be naked. All of the tour members are too shy and decided not to go. Ended up the tour stop us at Miramar Entertaiment Park.
Ferris Wheel is the landmark of Miramar. Straight to 5th floor to experience flying in the sky.

19:30 - 22:30
There is a free shuttle bus from Miramar to Shilin Night Market. Unfortunately, it started rain through out the night. Walking in the rain at Shilin Night Market and had a BBQ set for dinner just NT120 which is big portion and delicious.

Day3 [01-10-2009]

8:30 Breakfast at Hotel.
9:30
Take MRT to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station. Wanna have a shop at Breeze Center but discover that all those department store open at 11:00. Walking around the area and have a walk at Sogo.

11:30
Decided to go to Taipei 101. Take MRT to Taipei City Hall and there are free shuttle bus to Taipei 101. Along the bus journey, you will passby NewYork NewYork and World Trade Center.

1:30
Proceed to WuFenPu. Shopping times for ladies. From Taipei City Hall Station, take MRT to HouShanPi station. Had porridge as lunch and escape from the rain as well. After full of energy, times to shop around.

Most of the clothes selling for NT390. If getting more pieces, you may get discount. Shoes selling there fashionable and cheap too. Children clothings are so cute, nice and it just sell as low as NT100. Beware of some shops only for wholesale.

There is a shop selling japanese food. Friend bought a big Doreamon variety biscuits tin.
RaoHe Night Market. Long queue for pepper bun in front of the entrance. Doesn’t get to try it. There is a food like popiah skin with peanut and ice-creams ingredients are worth trying out.

Day4 [02-10-2009]
8:30 Breakfast @ hotel
9:00
Initial plan to take MRT and Bus to Yeliu. After some consideration, we decided to take cab which is more convenient and safe time. Charges for 1 taxi which can take 6 persons is 1st 3 hours is NT2000 and subsequent hour is NT400.
Keelung (基隆)
Visit to Keelung harbor and pass by Keelung Town. Friendly taxi driver telling off Keelung famous haunted house story. Visit to a temple inside a cave. There is a narrow path which you need to squat down to walk thru it showing your sincerity to Buddha.
Visit to the famous scenery of Keelung, the giant KuanYin statue, the Goddess of Mercy located at ZhongZheng park. It is the landmark for those incoming ships to Keelung harbor.




Yehliu (野柳)
Visit Yehliu GeoPark. Entrance fee is NT50. Famous spot is the Queen's Head (女皇头).


There is a place name BaiShaWan, between the journey of Yehliou to DanShui,. It’s a famous beautiful beach which you can enjoy a cup of coffee by the seaside in a romantic coffee house looking at people surfing in the sea.

The kind taxi driver drove us to explore 1 of the Taiwan culture, Betel nut Girls. Sexy betel nut girls dancing to catch our attention. If you are lucky enough, you can even snap a photo with them.

Fisherman Wharf (渔人码头)
Walk thru Lover Bridge. View the sunset.

DanShui Old Street (淡水老街)
Enjoy the food and shops around the old street.


Day5 [03-10-2009]
HouCheZhan > Taipei Underground Mall > XiMenDing

It is mid-autumn festival today. Wake-up early and go to pray at Mazu Temple (天后宫), Ximending. Take MRT to Taipei City Hall station and breakfast at 1 of the healthy breakfast restaurant.
Walk approx 10mins to HouCheZhan. The area of selling hair accessories, earrings, necklace etc. You can get wholesales price if taking 10 pieces and above.
Shop at Taipei Underground Mall which is interconnected with Taipei Main Station. You could get lost in this big underground mall separated in few zoning.

Evening - back to XiMenDing. Have a thoroughly shops around XiMenDing. Have a chance to watch those illegal seller running away from Police (走鬼).
Before closing shops, all those promoters having BBQ right in front of their shop to celebrate mid-autumn festival.

Take taxi to Carrefour Guilin Branch which open 24 hours. Do remember to bring your own recycle bag as no free plastic bag provided.

Experience 1.3magnitute earthquake at 1:30am. Nobody running out from the hotel. Maybe we are too sensitive of this.


Day6 [04-10-2009]
Last shopping at XiMenDing before check-out from hotel @ 12:00pm.
Airport coach transfer to Airport. (Note: C5 Gate is Hello Kitty Gate. Those Hello Kitty lover, pay a visit at C5 Gate.)





Food & Beverage :

阿宗麵線, 燒香腸, 珍珠奶茶, 鹽酥雞, 木瓜牛奶, , 酸梅湯, 燒臭豆腐, 阿給, 甜不辣, 鴨肉扁, 楊桃冰, 魯肉飯,蚵仔煎, 烧鱿鱼, 吴家鼎邊趖, 蟹魚羹, 芋圓, 米粉湯, 泡泡冰, 愛玉冰, 苦瓜水..etc
